Jonathan Swift was born in the United States of America. Or at least in what it use to be. Born to a farmer in Kentucky and hating plants, his childhood was one of endless toil and the constant cycles of farming. As soon as he was old enough he moved east, to the big cities and fast moving life that was a mind opener compared to the constant drudgery of his fathers farm. He never looked back, and found the first job he could. It was the 1830's, and the railroad boom had just begun. It would define his life.
Quickly joining up with the South Carolina Canal and Rail-road Company, he participated in the first railroads that came into the America's, such projects as the Mohawk & Hudson railroad and the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad, the first railroad in the America's. Jonathan took to the giant machines with gusto, and while he had little to no theoretical experience, he learned the machines year by year until he could name any part in most machines on the continent. He would slowly move back west as the lines expanded during the boom years of 1830 to 1860, but when the civil war broke out he saw it as horrible for the business. However, with the lack of opposition from the democrats in congress, the transcontinental railroad was approved in 1862. However, while he moved west with the work starting in Nebraska, the project was quickly cut because of the need for war funding. Finding himself already in the west, he had little prospects and settled himself in Omaha. It took only a few years before he found himself married and children on the way, but as he looked at what a railroad worker could manage, and with a family life coming, he knew he need new opportunity.
The new opportunity came with the boom town of Jackson. A small location, Jonathan caught wind that the place would soon massively grow and the railroad line expanded. Thus he moved quickly to the area, taking the wife and twin boys. He's been the principal force behind the railroad line that's now formed in Jackson, and constantly seeks its expansion. He is a man accustomed to hard work, and has little regard for those who can't do a honest days labor.
